12 SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME C

FOLLOW THE TING! TING! IN LIFE

Ting! Kay mag eskwela, alas 10 sa buntag ting! Para sa snacks! Sa udto ting! Para paniudto, sa alas 2 sa hapon ting! Ready for school, alas 4 sa hapon ting!

Follow the instruction, follow Jesus Christ, this is our ting! ting!sama sa bagtingan nga akong giingon kaninyo, we need to follow it to have a good performance  in the seminary. In life, we need to follow the ting! Bisan nagkahulugan kini ug kalisod, just follow the ting! Ting! In life.

Daghan kitag angayan nga pagasundon nga instruction o guidelines aron maanindot ang atong pagkinabuhi. Everything is a ting! Ting! Everything is a ting! Ting! sama sa paglakaw sa dalan kinahanglan diha gayod kita mosubay sa shoulder niini aron dili kita madisgrasya. Everything in life has a ting! Ting! To follow.

Sa atong kalisod, sa atong kalipay we will always follow Christ. We have to follow everything alang sa Dios. Every ting! Ting! Ting!

11TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME C

GREAT LOVE CONQUERS ALL

Na inlove siya pag ayo, nanguyab siya; ang babae mingon: sugton taka if you will change your life. On that moment, the boy has changed his life forever: nangita siya ug trabaho nga maayo, gibiyaan niya ang iyang bisyo ug nagpuyo ug maayong kinabuhi.

Tinuod diay ang giingon, great love conquers all.

Greetings…

This is so because love conquers all. Kon ikaw nahigugma dali raka makapasaylo. Love conquers all.

Hinumdumi love conquers all.

Kaya begin to love and everything is for you, because love conquers all.

10TH SUNDAY in ordinary TIME C

RAISE ME UP!

Do you know the song from Josh Groban, entitled: You Raise me Up? Ito po iyon…

“When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary
When troubles come and my heart burdened be
Then I am still and wait here in the silence
Until you come and sit awhile with me

You raise me up so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be”

Una, the compassion of God; ug ang ikaduha, this compassion leads to raising the son of the widow in Nain. Atong nahibal-an nga ang atong Ginoo, usa ka Ginoo nga maloloy-on, a compassionate God.

Today is the year of mercy busa ato usab nga ipakita ngadto sa uban ang atong kalooy, ilabi na niadtong mga tawo nga nag-antos.

Kon makakita ka ug tawo nga naglisod; ang Ginoo moingon: raise me up! Kon naproblema ang imong barkada; ang Ginoo moingon: raise me up! Kaya, let us help to raise them up!

“You raise me up so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be”

SOLEMNITY OF THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST C

EAT ALL YOU CAN

One day, when I was still in Davao City, I happened to ate at a restaurant with “eat all you can” meal. When I enter the eatery, I followed what other customers were doing, since it was my first time. I realized that in this kind of banquet self-service is being observed. You will be the one to get your food. You can get everything:  viand, rice, desserts and drinks, as long as you can consume it. It was a very nice system, since; you will really feel that you are at home.

Greetings!

My dear friends, the grace of God are like “eat you can” meals. The grace of God is just around us just “eat all you can”. In our Gospel today Jesus feed 5000 men not including women and children meaning to say there are more than 5000 people. It does not only say like that since, there are 12 baskets left in the banquet. The remaining 12 baskets convey that there is lots of food available. This may mean that the graces that we have received everyday of our life are really abundant.

In life, we received lots of graces. The basic example for this is our life, the air we breathe every day, the food we take daily, friends who care for us, our families, and our neighbours are God’s given graces. These graces are just like “eat all you can” meal, unlimited and without any expense. Remember that these unlimited graces do not only feed our stomach but also to our soul.

Since, we have received these graces in our life without any expense; it is also fitting for us to give thanks to the giver. This is our only expression as a response to the giver of the gifts.
One way of giving thanks to the giver is to share these graces to other people. Share what you have received. Invite and let other people know that you have been enjoying the “eat all you can” graces of God.

But sometimes in our life, we feel that we have been forsaken. It seems that there are empty spaces that need to fill up. There are difficulties that need to settle. If you will feel this way just approach God and ask Him to take your meal “eat all you can” meaning to asks his graces. I am pretty sure that he will always give what you need. Our gospel reminds us today that God will always provide everything we need. Let us be conscious about it. Let us be aware of the things we have received from God. God provides us everything and it is also fitting to give him in return.

As we celebrate the feast of the body and blood of Christ, we are all reminded to share our bread and wine to other people.

Friendly reminder: graces are just everywhere, just “eat all you can”.

PENTECOST SUNDAY C

YOU AND I ARE ONE

A car is a composition of different parts. We have the engine, the under chassis, the body, the wheels and many others. It can only be called as “car” if the different parts will work together as one. It is also the same, in a human body- we have the head which is compose also of the different parts, the body and the feet. It can only be called as human (as in complete form of a human being) if the whole parts are put together.

Greetings!

My dear friends, today we celebrate the feast of the Pentecost. A feast commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ as described in the Acts of the Apostles 2:1–11. For this reason, Pentecost is sometimes described as the "Birthday of the Church".

In the Second Reading, St. Paul speaks of the effect of the Spirit on the Christian community which reflects unity and diversity. “We are like a body. Each body has many members, each with its own particular function, yet they all are ordered to one purpose – the good functioning of the body as a whole.” This reminds us that we are all one though obtain different functions in this world and in the church. Therefore, we are called to be one in faith in Christ with different roles and functions in the church.

It is also the same in our church, there are hundreds of people who are part of the ministries of our parish. Some are catechists, faithful alagad, lectors, some are good in music, some work with our young people, some are servers, or you may consider yourself as just a mere church goers but without you, we are nothing in here. All make up the heart of the parish because we are all united by the Holy Spirit.

Now, let us also apply this to our daily chores. In the family for example, although we have different personality in the family, hope that you will be working together with the same purpose.

Today, we are challenge to be part of this one body of Christ by working on our roles as distinct from others. However, let us always remember, that we are always one in Christ. Different functions but we are one in our goal.

YOU AND I ARE INDEED ONE!

FEAST OF THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD C

GO BACK HOME

Adunay panultihon nga nagkanayon: “there is no other place like home”. Ilabi na kon didto gyod natawo unya didto pa gyod nagdako, mangita gyod kanunay sa ilang home, tungod kay there’s no other place like home.

Apan sa wala pa siya mobalik iya kitang gipahimangnuan to proclaim the good news to all the earth. The good news is no other than the real home of all who followed him. Let us tell the world the good news of our real home in heaven. Let us convince them to go back home.
Kon aduna ikaw’y mga higala nga sa daw wala nay simbasimba, tell them go back home.

Mao kini ang atong bation tungod kay there is no other place like home man. Busa kitang ania pa sa kalibutan, let us spread the good news to other people to go back home.

Please go back home.

6TH SUNDAY OF EASTER C

BE SUPPORTIVE
There was a blind girl who hated herself just because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She promised that if she could only see the world, she would marry her boyfriend.

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she could see everything, including her boyfriend. Her boyfriend asked her, “now that you can see the world, will you marry me?”

The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too, and refused to marry him. Her boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to her saying:

“Just take care of my eyes dear.”

Greetings!

My dear friends, Jesus in our gospel today promises us to give his advocate or helper or supporter. This advocate is the Holy Spirit that will always light our ways. This Holy Spirit is the one who will protect us, support us in our journey towards a good life. “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to be with you always.”

The promise that Jesus is telling us in our gospel today is only be given to those who love Him. This is a great prize to those who follow his commandments. Therefore, we need to Love the Lord by showing our love to one another.

But, how do we know if we love Jesus? Let us look at our lives. Do we pray? Do we follow the teaching of the gospel? Are we helping other people? Are we always ready to forgive those who sin against us?

“Whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.” The reward of discipleship or the fruit of living moral lives is intimate relationship with Jesus and the Father. When we love one another, Jesus and the Father dwell in our hearts and in our midst.

In our home, we always hire a helper who is always vigilant, loving and caring. This kind of supporter will keep us at peace because we know that he will surely do his job. This is what Jesus is also trying to tell us today. Jesus wants us to be a good and vigilant advocate to other people. The love of God is already in us, as helper we need to show this love to other people.

The sacrificial act of the boy in the story of the blind girl reminded us that real love involves sacrifices. Real supporter also is ready to sacrifice himself/herself to the person he loves.
