CARRY YOUR OWN CROSS
GREETINGS!
My dear friends today
we celebrate the feast of the exaltation of the cross. In our gospel today
Jesus speaks to Nicodemus and told him how he will save the people from their
sins. “The son of man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may
have eternal life.” Jesus knew that the only way to save his people from their
sins is to be lifted up on the cross. This is a sacrificial offering of Jesus Christ;
the highest form of offering is to offer his life for the sake of the salvation
of all. This is a sacrificial act of Love.
My dear friends in Christ, we have also our own sacrifices,
meaning we have our own crosses to carry. Sometimes this cross is a member of
our own family- it can be the husbands
or the wives and even the children also becomes crosses to the family;
sometimes our own close friends, or if you are in public service your cross
will be the people whom you serve.
Last Friday, the Parish Youth Apostolate of Maramag had undergone a
Youth Encounter at Bakhita Farm. Since, I am in charge of this group; it is my
responsibility to look at them. Then, Saturday morning the parish youth leader
texted me: “father na short ang budget”. “pila man ang short”, I asked her. “1500
father”, she said. I went to the place and settled the problem and of course I
sacrifice some amount. This is what we called crosses. However, the Lord tells us
to carry our own crosses. Since, I am the father of these young people, I must
carry them to the best that I can.
In carrying our own crosses, Sometimes things happen to you and at
the time they seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize
that without carrying these crosses you would never have realized your
potential, strength, will power of heart. Thus, these crosses will help us
discover our own power to continue to live life.
My dear friends carry your own crosses even if it is hard. These crosses
will make us strong, theses crosses allows us to discover our own strength, our
own power to handle life to the full. Strive to go on and believe always that God
will always help you carry it for you.
Today we are challenge to stand up, carry our cross and start to
walk towards our dreams. I know you can do it because God is always with you.
