WEAR THE CROSS

Some people says that the symbol of the cross +taught us about our relationship first to the Lord, the symbol of the vertical line; second to the people, our neighbors, the symbol of the horizontal line. This is the reason why Christ died for all of us, to remind us to love the Lord with all our hearts and to our neighbors as we love ourselves.

Our gospel today reminds us of two things, to love the Lord, and to love our neighbors. To love the Lord is only a response to the Love that Jesus has shown to us. He is the first who loved us since from the very beginning of time. This is the reason why when we start writing the symbol of the cross, we will start from the top going down because God has loved us first. 

We always experience the love of God in our life every day. If we will examined the daily graces that we have received – air, food, friends, family and many others are signs of this great love. In this reason, it is also right and responsibilities to give back the love that we have received from God. This is the second horizontal line symbol- to love our neighbors. However, because of too much love to ourselves it becomes hard for us to do this. 

Today, we are challenge to love the Lord and our neighbors as we love ourselves, because this is the only way that we can give back the love that we have received from God.

As baptized Christian, we have received the cross of Christ mark in our forehead. This cross reminds us of our responsibility to other people. Since, we share this cross we must have to reveal it by loving our neighbors. It may mean- “living our baptism into his marvelous light”(NCYM).

Today we are reminded to wear the cross, the symbol of the love of Christ, and the reminder to love our neighbors.

YOU ARE INVITED

Last night I was invited by a friend to celebrate a thanksgiving banquet since it is the 2^nd year anniversary of their business. I came and ate with them, eat all you can. We, priests have many invitations especially if it is a banquet. Like for example, the other day I was also invited to celebrate a thanksgiving mass and of course there is always a banquet.

Today’s gospel speaks almost the same yet has a deeper meaning on it. The parable of the wedding feast expresses the intention that we are all invited to take part the banquet in heaven. When the king invited his guests nobody came, some went to their farm, others went to their own business, and some others are maybe busy.

My dear friends, there are many invitations around us. We just don’t recognize it maybe because of our busy days. The invitations of the Lord are many so that we will be able to recognize the importance of life and the feast that he is preparing in heaven.

Kaniadto ako ang in charge sa panalapi sa seminario. Ako usab ang mangompra para sa pagkaon. Usa ka adlaw niana nangumpra kami sa Valencia Public Market, tungod kay kapoy naman nag snacks mi ug halohalo. Lami kaayo ang among pagpangaon sa dihang naay nanguhit ug kalit sa akong kilid. Usa ka bata, bulingon, yagit, ug baho pa gyod. “sir, sir, sir, mangayo ko ug piso bi?” Miingon siya. “Unsaon man nimo ning piso?” Mitubag ako.  “Akong ipalit ug pan kay gutom”.  Nakonsensya ko kay grabe namong kaon unya naa diay gigutom sa kilid. Busa ako siyang gipalitan kon unsa ang among gikaon. Paghuman niya ug kaon midagan dayon siya ug nawala.

That experience was an invitation of the Lord. That time I was invited to share my food to those who are hungry. The invitation of the Lord is not only to participate in the celebration of the Eucharist but the biggest one is to bring to others what we have learned from the church.

Today, I want you to discover how Jesus invites you to his kingdom. In what way that I can take part the feast of the kingdom someday? My dear friends, there is no other way just use the wedding garment of Christ. This may mean, be good to your neighbors, be compassionate to those who sin against you and be a good Christian.

Remember always, everyday is an invitation. Anytime, wherever you are maybe an invitation for you to be a true follower of Christ.  Just be careful recognize everything around you look at them they are all an invitation.

LET’S PRODUCE A GOOD FRUIT

Adunay usa ka tawo nga nangumpra ug prutas nga mangga didto sa bukid, sa pagkahuman na niya sa pagharvest naglisod siya sa pagdala tungod sa kabug-at niini. Sa iyang pagpadayon sa pagpas-an subay sa dalan naka tagbo siya ug usa ka tigulang ug siya nangutana: “Noy, asa may mas sayon ug duol nga dalan dinhi paingon sa syudad?” ang tigulang mitubag, “kon dinhi ka moagi sa tuo, sayon kaayo ang dalan apan mutuyok ka sa bukid ug perting layua; kun dinhi pod ka moagi sa wala dili kaayo layo apan lisod-lisod pod ang dalan; pwede usab ikaw moagi sa dinhi sa tunga sa bukid apan perti kalisod ang dalan , dugay ka nga moabot.” “asa man diay ko moagi niini? Nakapangutana sa kaugalingon ang tawo. “dong, bisan pag asa ka moagi, inig-abot nimo didto sa tindahan nga mopalit sa imong mangga dili sila mangutana kon asa ka niagi. Ang ilang pangutana: “Man, how good is your fruit?”

Ang atong Ebanghelyo karon nagsugilon sa usa ka sambingay mahitungod sa usa ka tawo nga dato. Daghan siya ug yuta mao nga iyang kining gipiyal sa mga saop. Sa ting ani na iyang kipakuha ang iyang bahin sa iyang mga sakop apan gipamatay kini hangtud nga ang iyang anak maoy iyang gipakuha apan gipatay gihapon ug wala gayud siya makakuha sa maayong bunga nga iyang gidahum.

Sa daang kasabutan ang Ginoo nagpadala na sa iyang mga propeta aron ang katawhan mutuo kaniya apan wala gihapon mutuo ang katawhan ug gani ila pang gipamatay ang ubang mga propeta. Hangtud nga miabot ang bag-ong kasabutan diin ang iyang bugtong anak nga si Hesus mao na gayud ang iyang gipadala apan mao gihapon ang nahitabo, gipatay gihapon si Hesus.  Kini maong sambingay iyang gipahinungod sa mga magtutudlo sa balaod ug sa mga pangulo sa katawhan nga wala gayud mutuo kaniya. Kini nga sambingay iya usab nga gipahinungod kanato ilabi na niadtong wala mutubo diha sa ilang pagtuo, ug tungod kay wala mutubo, wala makapamunga.

Sa atong kinabuhi gihatagan kita sa Dios ug daghan kaayo nga mga grasya, sa akong pamalandong mao kini ang parasan nga gihatag kanato sa Dios. Sa tanang grasya nga atong nadawat, nakapamunga ba kini ug daghan? Anaa bay paglambo nga nahitabo kanato? O sama ba hinoon kita sa mga saop nga dili gapamahin niini.

Madato man kita ug mapobre o unsa man ang atong kahimtang sa kinabuhi, sa umaabot nga panahon paninglan gayud kita sa Ginoo. Sa atong pag-atubang kaniya moingon siya: “ Man, How good is your fruit?”  karon palang daan let produce a good fruit. Lets produce a good fruit pinaagi sa atong pagpakita sa atong maayong pagkatawo ngadto sa uban.

Namista kami kagahapon didto sa lumbo, samtang nag-estorya kami sa tagbalay nalakbitan namo ug estorya si Bruno- ang suki nga makalilimos sa parokya sa Valencia, halos kada-adlaw siya mangayo didto. Miingon ang tagbalay nga sa dihang nanganak siya sa hospital, iyang gisugo ang iyang bana sa pagpalit ug pagkaon apan walay mapalit tungod kay serado ang tanan nga tindahan. Si Bruno nga makililimos na aktuhan nga naa usab didto gawas sa hospital, nahimamat sa maong bana ug nag estoryahay sila ug nahibal-an  ni Bruno nga walay mapalit nga pagkaon busa siya miingon: “Bay, niay akong pinangayo sa mga balay, pinutos ni ug limpyo pa, kini nalang ang ipakaon sa imong asawa.”

Mao kini ang aong giingon nga bunga sa atong pagkatawo. Mahibalo unta kita mobahin niini ngadto sa uban. Kay basin unya ug paninglan kita sa Dios sa umaabot ug unya siya mangutana kanato, “man, how good is your fruit?” makatubag kaha kita? Ikaw! How good is your fruit?
