BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO HELP!

Karong adlawa  atong gisaulog ang ika-upat nga Domingo sa Adbento. Diha sa atong Atong Ebanghelyo karon gipakita ang pagtabang ni Maria ngadto kang Isabel nga iyang ig-agaw nga mabdos niadtong tungora. Si Isabel usa ka tigulang na nga babae ug malisod sa usa ka tigulang ang mag mabdos, busa si Maria wala nagpanuko sa pagtabang kaniya hangtud siya naka-anak.

Kini nga buhat mao ang angay natong pamalandungan karon. Ang pagtabang usa ka buhat nga maayo. Kini gitawag sa English ug “help”. Help is to do something that makes it easier for someone to do a job. Sa atong pinulungan, magtabang ka sa uban aron sa pagpagaan sa ilang kalisod.

 Sumala pa sa pasiuna nakong pamulong, bulahan kadtong mga matinabangon. Bulahan kadtong mapinanggaon, kay mabati sa uban ang gugma; Bulahan kadtong kabalo maminaw kay nakapagaan kini sabug-at nga pagbati sa uban; bulahan kadtong makigduyog sa kalisod sa uban kay magpagaan kini sa bug-at nila nga gipas-an. Bulahan ang matinabangon tungod kay ilang gipasinati sa uban ang Dios.

Bulahan ka kon ikaw kana kay ang Dios anaa kanimo.

KON LIPAY MO! LIPAY POD KO!

Usa pari ang nagtudlo sa iyang katawhAn kon unsaon paghimo sa facial expression nga maharmonize sa ilang gisulti. Miingon ang Pari: kon mag estorya gani kamo ug langit kinahanglan nga ang inyong dagway mahayag ug nag shine in glory. Kon mag estorya gani mo ug kalipay kinahanglan nga ang inyong dagway nagngisi  o ng smile. Kon mag estorya gani mo ug kasubo kinahanglan mga mobati pod kamo ug kasubo; Ug kon mag estorya gani mo ug impierno: don’t change your facial expression kay kanang imong nawong mura nag impeirno.

Karon mao ang ikatulo nga domingo sa adbento . also known as gaudete Sunday. Gaudete in latin word meaning rejoice! Paglipay! Pagmalipayon! Ang kalipay usa ka desisyon sa kinabuhi.

UNSA MAN ANG GIINgon sa atong abanghelyo karon? Ang mga tawo nangutana kang Juan kon unsa ang ilang buhaton.

Una, ang dunay duha ka sapot ihatag ngadto sa walay bisti ug ang dunay pagkaon mohatag sa walay pagkaon. Sa ato pa, pagmanggihatagon. Dili ba mao man kini ang diwa sa pasko, ang pagkamanggihatagon? Buot ipasabot sa Dios paambit pod sa grasya nga imong nadawat.

 Nahinumdum ako sa akong parokya kaniadto, kon panahon na gani sa pasko ang mga katawhan mohalad ug mga use clothing nga dili na nila gamiton apan magamit pa, aron pag abot sa December 25, ipanghatag sa mga walay sinina. Daghan gyud kaayo ang naghatag ug nalipay kami. Ang pagkamanggihatagon usa ka maayo nga batasan sa tawo tungod kay kini makahatag ug kalipay ngadto sa uban.

Pag-uli nako sa balay kaniadto maoy akong naabtan nga nanaygon ang upat kabuok nga babaeng lumad gikan sa bukid. Silang upat adunay dala nga gagmayng bata, ako silang gipakanta ug gitagaan ug kuarta. Akong nabantayan nga ang usa ka bata giputos ug lampin nga basa (wet) sa akong pagtan aw sa bata wala gayoy sinina. Kalooy! Maygani kay naay gamay nga sinina sa balay.

Pasko karon panghatag mo kon naay inyo!

Ikaduha, ‘ayaw panglimbong ug ayaw pamintaha sa uban. Buot ipasabot be honest to your work ug ayaw daugdauga ang uban. Ayaw itugot nga tungod kanimo madaut ang uban ug magkalisodlisod. Himoa nga tungod kanimo nalipay ang uban tungod kay nakatabang ka kaniya.

Ikatulo, be satisfied of what you have. Ayaw pag angkon ug pangandoy ug subra labi na kon kini gikan sa limbong nga paagi. Kon unsay anaa! Dawata kini nga malipayon. Ayaw pagdawat sa salapi nga gikan sa limbong . makalipay tuod kini pero kadiyot lamang. Usa ka limbong nga gisuwelduhan ka ug sakto pero dili ka gatrabaho sa sakto. Usahay kini mahitabo sa mga trabahante sa gobyerno, naa man ganiy gisuwelduhan nga patay na! heheheheheh

Kining tulo nga gipadayag ni Juan diha sa atong abanghelyo usa ka lihok nga maayo ug kini makalipay kanimo ilabi na sa uban. Busa, angayan lamang nga ato kining mabatunan diha sa atong kinabuhi aron usab kita magmalipayon diha sa atong pagpanlimbasug sa kinabuhi. Atong batunan ang kinaiya nga:  kon lipay mo! Lipay pod ko!

Lipay ka! Lipay ko!

2ND SUNDAY OF ADVENT C

ROAD TO LIFE (Revised and repost)

Kon mogawas ko gikan sa akong parokya sa Malipayon Paingon sa Malaybalay o Valencia, hinay gayud ang dagan sa akong sakyanan kay Grabe ka Libaong ang Dalan. Dinhi pod sa atong lugar sa Malipayon paingon didto sa Cagayan de Oro daghan ka ug Makita nga “road construction”, “road under repair” tungod niini dugay kaayo kang makaabot sa imong padulngan. Daghan ang mga tawo nga sapoton labi na ang mga driver ug kadtong mga nagdali. Apan kon atong sabton pag-ayo, ang pag ayo sa atong kadalanan alang lang gihapon sa atong kaluwasan. Kini gihimo aron walay madisgrasya diha sa pagbiyahe, aron walay daghang makalas nga kinabuhi. It is for the purpose of saving our own lives.

Ang atong ebanghelyo karong adlawa nagpahinumdom kanato sa pag andam sa dalan sa Ginoo. Unsa man kini nga dalan? This is what we called the road to life. The road to life is no other than the road to Jesus Christ. Ug gihagit kita karong adlawa sa pag-andam niining maong dalan sa kinabuhi.

Unsa may atong buhaton aron maandam nato ang dalan sa kinabuhi nga mao ang dalan ni Kristo? Una, Sumala pa sa atong ikaduhang pagbasa karon: “gidayeg ni Pablo ang taga Filipos sa mga maayong buhat nga ilang gipakita kaniya. Mao usab kini ang mahitabo kanato kon atong ipakita ang mga maayong buhat ngadto sa uban. Daghan ang modayeg kanato tungod sa mga maayong butang nga ilang nakita. Di ba mao man usab kini ang giingon ni Santiago ‘mag unsa man ang pagtuo kon walay Buhat”.

 Ang akong kauban nga pari sa maramag kaniadto naghimo niining maayong buhat. Kada human niya ug misa sa Domingo iya dayong ihatod sa Happy Home ang iyang mga halad nga in kind. Inig-abot niya didto mosugat dayon ang mga buang ug moingon: “naa nasad si pader nagdala nasad ug sayote, sayote napod atong sud an ani!” hehehehehh di ba maayo man kini nga buhat! Isa kini ka paagi aron maandam ang atong dalan.

Ikaduha, ang paghinulsul. Kini mao ang gisangyaw ni Juan sa katawhan. Ang paghinulsul usa ka paagi aron mahugasan kita sa atong mga sala. Kon naghinulsul ka buot ipasabot nga nagbasul ka sa sayup nga imong nahimo ug mosaad ka nga dili na mousab pagbuhat niini. Repentant sinners can easily do good things and good things are works of repentant sinners.

Ikatulo mao ang pag utro sa Dalan sa Kinabuhi. Kon kini maot na nga dalan ayuha. Daghan ang mga walog sa atong kinabuhi, gani usahay mao kini ang hinungdan nga mawad-an kita sa pagsalig sa Dios. Apan miingon siya abonuhi: repair it! Don’t be afraid about it! Face it! Aron makapadayon ka sa imong panaw sa dalan sa kinabuhi, ayoha ang imong dalan.  Usahay makaingon usab ikaw sa imong kinabuhi: kakapoy naba sa akong pagtungas sa bukid, Lord”. Or makaingon ka grabe naman gyod kamaot ning akong dalan, Lord, gansalgansalon naman kaayo’. APAN ANG Dios magaingon kanimo: “Ayaw pag-undang, padayon bisan nianang tanan nimo nga nasinati”. Ang Dios nahibalo kon unsa ang imong makab-ot kon dili kita moundang sa pagpaningkamot.

Remember, good works, repent and change your way this is the road to life, the road to Jesus Christ.

32ND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B

LOVER! GIVER!

“Can I see my baby?” the happy new mother asked.

When the bundle was nestled in her arms and she moved the fold of cloth to look upon his tiny face, she gasped. The doctor turned quickly and looked out the tall hospital window. The baby had been born without ears.

Time proved that the baby’s hearing was perfect. It was only his appearance that was marred. When he rushed home from school one day and flung himself into his mother’s arms, she sighed, knowing that his life was to be a succession of heartbreaks. He blurted out the tragedy. “A boy, a big boy … called me a freak.”

He grew up, handsome for his misfortune. A favorite with his fellow students, he might have been class president, but for that. He developed a gift, a talent for literature and music. “But you might mingle with other young people,” his mother reproved him, but felt a kindness in her heart. The boy’s father had a session with the family physician. Could nothing be done? “I believe I could graft on a pair of outer ears, if they could be procured,” the doctor decided.

Whereupon the search began for a person who would make such a sacrifice for a young man. Two years went by. Then, “You are going to the hospital, Son. Mother and I have someone who will donate the ears you need. But it’s a secret,” said the father. The operation was a brilliant success, and a new person emerged. His talents blossomed into genius, and school and college became a series of triumphs.

Later he married and entered the diplomatic service. “But I must know!” He urged his father, “Who gave so much for me? I could never do enough for him.” “I do not believe you could,” said the father, “but the agreement was that you are not to know … not yet.” The years kept their profound secret, but the day did come … one of the darkest days that a son must endure. He stood with his father over his mother’s casket. Slowly, tenderly, the father stretched forth a hand and raised the thick, reddish-brown hair to reveal that the mother had no outer ears. “Mother said she was glad she never let her hair be cut,” he whispered gently, “and nobody ever thought Mother less beautiful, did they?”

Real beauty lies not in the physical appearance, but in the heart. Real treasure lies not in what that can be seen, but what that cannot be seen. Real love lies not in what is done and known, but in what that is done but not known.

Our Gospel today speaks of the poor widow who gave everything she has to the temple. This expression is an expression of real love not only to the church but most of all to the Lord. Real love can give everything even his or her life. The poor widow gave everything she has and not a surplus of what she has. This is what we called real love.

Today, God is asking us to express our real love to the church and to the people around us. How? Let us look at the poor widows example, let us help! Let us give! Let us share what we received from the Lord to those who are need by not counting the cost. Remember, that the more you give, the more you receive.  If you gave your share to the church or to the people in need, you are actually sharing not to the person, not to that church but to the Lord.

Mao bitaw nga giingnan nako ang akong secretary nga kon naay magpablessing ug sakyanan ayaw presyohi kay aron gikan sa iyang kasingkasing ang paghalad.

The story of the mother who gave her own ears to her son is a story of how real her loved to her son. This must also be our story in life. Let us help all that we had for the sake of the kingdom of God.  Give your love!

THE FEAST OF ALL SAINTS NOV. 1

BLESSED ARE YOU POOR

One day, a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very

poor family. On their return from their trip the father asked his son, “How was the trip?”

It was great, Dad.”

Did you see how poor people live?” The father asked.

O yeah, said the son.

So, tell me what did you learn from the trip? Asked the father.

The son answered, “I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden, and they have a river that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden, and they have the stars at night. Our terrace reaches to the front yard, and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on, and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us; they have friends to protect them.”

The boy’s father was speechless.

Then his son added, “Thanks dad for showing me how poor we are.”(UNKNOWN AUTHOR)

Our gospel today speaks of the beatitudes. “Blessed are you who are poor for the kingdom of God is yours.”

Today, Jesus points out where the true happiness lies in our lives. In Luke's version, beatitudes are accompanied by painful wail for those who do not accept the message of salvation, but prefer to stick to a self-sufficient and selfish life. With the beatitudes and woes, Jesus applies the doctrine of the two paths: the path of life and the fact of death. There is not a third and neutral possibility: he who does not follow the path of life is heading for the path of death; who does not follow the light, lives in darkness.

Ang akong homily karong adlawa sa fiesta sa mga santos, akong giapilan sa paambit para ugma tungod kay basin aduna nay dili makasimba tungod kay aduna namay trabaho.

In the feast of All Saints which we celebrate today, we, the saints who are still struggling on earth (the church militant), celebrate fellowship with the saints who have already arrived in heavenly glory (the church triumphant). Tomorrow, we will celebrate our fellowship with the saints in purgatory, a state of temporary suffering for departed souls who are not yet fully ready for full fellowship with God in the glory of heaven (the church suffering).

Kitang mga kristianos nagatuo sa gitawag nato ug the Four Last Things: kamatayon,  paghukom, langit and impyerno(hell). Purgatory is not mentioned as one of the “last things” because, strictly speaking, purgatory is a part of heaven. Ang Purgatory isa ka agianan sa mga kalag padulong sa langit. Souls who go to purgatory are those who have been judged worthy of heaven, but not straightawaykay aduna paman silay gagmay’ng sala. Kinahanglan pa silang hinluan (purgation) ayha sila moadto sa langit because, according to Revelation 21:27, “nothing unclean shall enter it.”

Unsa ba katinuod kining purgatory? Wala man kini sa bibliya? Diha sa sambingay mahitungod sa unfaithful servants nga sinulat ni San Lukas 12: 47-48 nagkanayon: “ang nagtuman sa gisugo sa hari makadawat gayud ug ganti apan ang wala magtuman niini silutan sa bug-at nga latos ug ang sulogoon nga nagtuman apan wala makaandam sa pag abot sa hari silutan ug gamay nga latos. Ang nagtuman sigurado na nga malangit apan ang wala magtuman ug nagdaugdaug pa gayud sa uban sigurado na sa impyerno. Karon, kadtong gisilutan ug gamay ra nga latos asa man ibutang? Mao na ang giingon nga purgatorio.

Mga igsoon, atong hinumduman ang ka importante sa pag=ampo sa mga patay kay aduna pa gayud silay dakong paglaum nga maluwas. Kitang ania pa sa kalibutan mao ang adunay dakong ikatabang alang kanila.  Ang Ginoo mingon kanato nga bulahan kita tungod kay aduna kitay gipaabot nga langit. Busa kinahanglan nga manigkamot kita nga makatagamtam kita sa langit nga giandam alang kanato. Pagpaubos, pagpakawala, pagpakakabos alang sa Dios ug segurado nga matawag ikaw ug bulahan.

30TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B

MALAS UG SWERTE!

Aduna akoy usa ka ig agaw kaniadto nga usa ka buta. Nabuta siya tungod sa iyang pagpanarbaho: usa siya ka tig vulcate sa ligid sa sakyanan. Usa ka higayon niana, nagvulcate siya sa usa ka ligid ug sa dihang kalit miboto ang ligid ug ang iyang mata ang naapektuhan, kini mao ang hinungdan nga dili na siya makakita. Simple lang siya nga tao, laagan bisan buta. Magsige siya ug anha sa among balay kaniadto, aron mangutana kon unsa ang migawas sa swetres ug mangayo ug sigarilyo. Usahay binuangan siya sa mga silingan. Looy gayud ang iyang kahimtang kay dili naman siya makakita.

Kon kitang mga tawo makakita ug mga buta makaingon ta! Kamalas niining tawhana! Dili makakita! Gihikawan sa kahayag! Pagkalooy niining tawhana! Apan bisan malas man ang ilang kahimtang swerte naman sila sa mata sa Dios. Ang buta layo sa sala tungod kay dili man sila makakita! Ang buta dili makapanaway tungod kay dili man nila Makita ang salawayon nga buhat. Ang buta dili dali matintal tungod kay dili man nila Makita ang butang nga makatintal. Buta sila nga malas apan buta sila nga swerte sa Dios!

Maayong adlaw!!!!

Ang ebanghelyo karong adlawa naghisgot kang Bartemeus nga usa ka buta. Si Bartemeus naglingkod daplin sa dalan, apan sa pagkadungog niya sa kaguliyang sa mga tawo ug sa paglabay ni Hesus misinggit siya ug nagpakilooy sa Ginoo aron mamaayo. Si Hesus nga nahibalo sa iyang gusto miayo kaniya ug si Bartemeus nga naayo misunod kang Hesus.

Sa atong kinabuhi, usahay susama kita sa buta. Usahay kon moabot ang malas, looy  ang atong kahimtang, daw nagpangapkap kita sa kangitngit. Sama pananglit  kon moabot ang dakong problema di ba! Makaingon ta unsaon man nako ni? kalisod ba ani mangita sa solusyon? Mura pod tag buta! Daw ngitngit ang kahimtang.

Mga igsoon, usa ra ang gikinahanglan nato kon moabot kining susama niini nga kahimtang. Singgit ug tawag sa Dios aron tagaan ka niya sa kahayag nga maoy mobanwag kanimo! Salig lamang ug ayaw pag undang sa pagsangpit sa Dios bisan pa sa mga hulga sa atong palibot. Di ba si Bartemeus wala moundang sa pagsinggit  bisan gibadlong siya sa mga tawo? Mao usab kini ang atong buhaton, ayaw pagpakawala sa paglaum, ampo ug ayo, ayaw pagsurender kay ang Dios nahibalo sa tanan. Kon moabot ang malas sa imong kinabuhi, dawata kini ug paningkamot nga mawala kini kanimo pinaagi sa imong pagpaningkamot uban sa pag ampo. Kini mao ang gibuhat ni Bartemeus nga usa ka buta: misinggit siya ug naningkamot nga miduol kang Hesus aron lang makaplagan niya ang iyang gipangita. “Moabot man gani ang malas nga wala gipangayo, swerte pa kaha nga kanunay giampo”(Fr Angel Comabig). Busa kinahanglan nga kita kanunay mag ampo sa Dios aron moabot ang swerte nga kahayag luyo sa kangitngit. Kon moabot ang malas dawata! Ug pag ampo aron ang swerte anaa.  

29TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME B

TULONG NA! TABANG NA! TAYO NA!

Intro:  

aduna akoy nakaila nga usa ka tigulang sa usa ka kapilya. Tigulang na gayod siya kaayo apan alagad gihapon sa kapilya. Ako siyang gipangutana kon pila na siya ka tuig nag alagad? Siya miingon mga 30 na kapin. “Mopadayon gihapon ka tay nga tigulang naman ka?”  Nangutana ako. “Kaya paman father.” siya mitubag.

 sa high school pa ako nag apil ko ug choir sa among kapilya… apan wala ko kabalo nga ang mao diay nga trabaho usa ka pag alagad sa  simbahan pinaagi sa mga pag awit sa pagdayeg sa Dios.

Ang atong Ebanghelyo karong adlawa naghisgot bahin sa pagpangalagad, sa English pa SERVICE. Unsa may kahulugan niini? Matud pa sa dictionary: service is a valuable action, deed, or effort performed to satisfy a need or to fulfill a demand. Nga sa ato pa motabang ka aron matuman ang gusto sa usa ka tawo. Diba ang gibuhat ni tatay bisan tigulang na siya kaayo usa ka service?

Ang pagtabang o pagpangalagad usa ka buhat nga maayo. 

1.      Kini mao ang bunga sa atong pagtuo. Faith without work is useless.

Experience sa akong faith: miapil ko sa Dyft sa diocese- ang among trabaho mao ang pagsuroysuroy sa tibuok diocese aron sa hulma sa mga batan-on. nahimo kung tigduyog sa simbahan kining tanan bunga sa pagtuo.

2.      Service involves sacrifices – si Hesus mismo nagsakripisyo alang sa pagpangalagad kanato. Si tatay bisan tigulang na mobaklay gihapon aron lang maka giya sa mga tawo sa bukid diha sa pag ampo. Service involves sacrifices!

3.      Sa atong pagserbisyo sa Ginoo adunay naglakip nga reward nga atong mapaabot. Una sa tanan, ang kaluwasan sa atong kalag; ikaduha ang kalipay o fulfillment nga atong pagabation.

Challenge: karon gihagit kita sa Dios sa pagpadayon sa atong kinabuhi sa pagpangalagad sa uban ilabi na ang mga nanginahanglan. Diha sa atong gagmay’ng nabuhat sa uban usa na kana nga dako nga buhat sa mga mata sa Dios. Bisan luyo sa mga sakripisyo nga atong nasinati dili kita moundang sa pagpangalagad sa simbahan ug sa tanan kay aduna gayoy dakong ganti nga nagpaabot kanato.

Kung kaya ni tatay bisan siya tigulang na!, kung kaya ni nanay bisan siya tigulang na!, kaya mo rin yan dahil ikaw ay bata pa! tulong na! tabang na! tayo na!

27th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME B

BE FAITHFUL!

Dihay usa ka elepante nga buotan kaayo ug nagsuroysuroy siya sa bukid nga iyang gipuy an. Diha usay usa ka langgam nga naglumlom sa iyang itlog, nga gi boringan na sa iyang kinabuhi kay nasige nalang siyag lumlom ug dili gayud makahawa sa maong salag. Nakahunahuna siya nga mangita ug mopuli sa paglomlom sa iyang itlog. Nakita niya ang elepante nga nagsuroysuroy busa iya kining gitawag ug giingnan nga pwede ba nga pulihan siya sa paglomlom sa iyang itlog. “unsaon man nako paglomlom sa imong itlog nga dili man ako makahimo niana?” mitubag ang elepante. “Makahimo lage ka dili ba diay ka maluoy kanako nga wala intawon ako nakatagamtam sa pagsuroysuroy.” Minngon ang langgam. Ug tuod man naluoy ang elepante ug miingon: sige ako nalay bantay anang imong itlog aron makalaag ka usab. Busa milupad ang langgam ug misuroy. Miadto siya sa Australia, America, pilipinas ug uban pang dapit. Nanglabay ang semana, bulan wala na mobalik ang maong langgam. Apan ang elepante nagpabilin gihapon nga nagbantay sa maong itlog. Miingon siya: kinahanglan nga faithful ako sa akong saad sa langgam.

Maayong adlaw kaninyong tanan! Nakahibalo ko kon unsa ang inyong gihunahuna bahin sa estorya: Nabuhi ba kaha ang langgam sulod sa itlog?

Karong dominggoha gisaysay ni Hesus nga ang panaghiusa sa bana ug asawa kinahanglan nga dili bulagon sa tawo. Sa paghiusa sa Dios kanila sila nanahimo nang usa ug tungod kay usa naman sila kinahanglan nga dili sila mabulag. Kining gisaysay ni Hesus kanato nagpahinumdum kanato to be faithful to one another. Husband be faithful to your wife; wife be faithful to your husband. To be faithful means adhering firmly and devotedly to someone or something that produces or demands one's fidelity. Faithful and loyal both suggest firm attachment to someone or something. kini mao ang gihimo sa Dios sa iyang katawhan tungod sa iyang pagkafaithful iyang gipakamatyan ang tanan both saints and sinners.

Unsa man kining pagkafaithful sa atong kinabuhi? Kon ikaw adunay trabaho kinahanglan nga motrabaho ka ug sakto sumala sa gisuweldo kanimo. Kon ikaw usa ka anak kinahanglan nga faithful ka sa imong pagtuon aron sa umaabot nga panahon makatabang ikaw sa naggasto kanimo. Kon naa kay uyab ayaw na pangita ug ikaduha.  Kon ikaw usa ka asawa o bana kinahanglan nga dili ka mangita ug lain. You need to have firm attachment: permente mo mag- estorya, mgtxt txt,  ug uban pa nga makatabang sa kalambuan sa relasyon.

Mao usab kini ang nagpabiling hagit kanato karon niining domingoha. Faithful unta kita sa atong pagtuo ngadto sa Ginoo, sa atong pakiglambigit sa atong isigkaingon.  Ug sa pagpadayon sa atong kinabuhi. Apan ang tawo usahay dili ingon ani: ang uban dili faithful diha sa trabaho, ang uban dili faithful sa ilang mga asawa, ang mga anak dili faithful sa ilang pagtuon, etc.

Mga igsoon gihagit kita na maging faithful sa atong kinabuhi. Mao kini ang gihimo sa Dios sa iyang katawhan, ang maging faithful. Ato kining pamalandungan kon unsa kita ka matinud anon sa atong kinabuhi.

Ang itlog, wala gayud napiso tungod kay kon lumluman kini sa elepante mabuok unya kini. Apan ang elepante nagpabilin gihapon nga nagbantay sa maong itlog. Faithful kaayo siya sa iyang mga saad. Ikaw faithful ka ba?

PARTNERS FOR CHRIST

Isa ka grupo sa mga paka naglagawlagaw sa bukid, ti ang duwa nadagdag sa boho. Ang iyang mga upod naghambal sa ila nga indi na maglumpatlumpat kay mapatay lang gihapon sila. Ang isa ka paka nag untat na pag lumbat ti nisurrender na ug napatay. Natingala ang mga upod sa isa ka paka kay indi mag-untat sa paglumpatlumpat. Gisinggitan nila na indi na mag lumpat kay indi na lage siya makagawas pero indi nag untat sa paglumpat ang paka hangtud nga nakagawas siya sa boho. Unya namangkot sila sa isa ka paka hamat wala siya nag untat sa paglumpat. Hambal sa paka indi siya makabati nakaingon siya nga lukso pa! lukso pa! ang ginahambal sa iyang mga upod! ti nagsige siya ug lukso maong naluwas siya.

Maayong aga sa tanan!

Our gospel today speaks of the allies of Christ discovered by the disciples. The disciples complained to Jesus about the work of this man because they believe that they were the only one that can do the mission of Christ since they were always with Jesus. But they were wrong since Jesus said: whoever is not against us is for us.

The story of the frog in my introduction reflects the partnership of the frogs. However because the frog is deaf he believes that he was encouraged by his companion. 

A partner is a friend who shares a common interest or participates in achieving a common goal. If we believe that we are all Christians therefore we are partners in the saving works of Christ. As partners, we must work together. We must work for the good of the church. Tayo po ay magkapamilya, magkapatid, sa pangalan nang ating Panginoon.  Dapat tayo ay magtulungan! Dili mangdaut sa usag-usa.

Sa didto pa ako sa akong unang assignment adunay usa ka babae nga nurse, akong miembro sa youth. siya miduol kanako nga naghilak. Miingon siya: “fr. Gi chismis ko!” “unsa may chismis”, mitubag ako. “uyab daw ta”, miingon siya. Hahahahahhaha grabe nakong katawa. Hayahaya nako oy! Guapa kaayo ang gi chismis sa ako. Tungod adto akong gipangita kon kinsa gayud ang nagchismis kanako. Akong nahibal an nga siya usa ka active church workers, tig hinlo sa simbahan, tig andam sa misa. Busa akong siyang gisultihan mahitungod niini. Nangayo siya ug pasaylo kay dili lage tinuod. Hayahay unta to kon tinuod pa! hahahahhahaha joke lang!

Mga igsoon, ang buot nakong ipasabot nga dili kita magdautay sa usag-usa, magtibangay kita kay we are partners for Christ. Molihok kita para sa Dios ug alang sa Dios. Kon kitang tanan magtibangay adunay dakong kausaban diha sa atong katilingban. Busa, let’s work together for the better glory of God.

Mao kini ang kasagara nga buhaton sa mga amang ug bungol nga tawo aron sila mapaminaw ug maka paambit sa ilang gustong isulti. Lisod kaayo silang sabton ilabi na kon ikaw wala maanad sa pagpakig estorya sa mga tawo nga sama kanila. Usahay maka ingon kita, “kalooy usab niining mga tawhana, gihikawan sa pagsulti ug sa pagpaminaw”. Ang kalibutan sa mga buta ug bungol hilom, bisan gani ang huyuhoy sa kahanginan dili nila madunggan.

Mga igsoon, ang atong ebanghelyo karong adlawa nagsulti sa usa ka amang ug bungol nga tawo nga giayo ni Hesus. Tungod niini maayo na siyang musulti ug maka dungog na. atong Makita sa atong ebanghelyo ang kagustuhan sa mga tawo nga mamaayo ang ilang higala tungod kay ila gayud nga gidala siya ngadto sa atubangan ni Hesus. Si Hesus usab nagpakita sa ritual nga iyang gibuhat sa tawo pinaagi sa pagkulkog sa iyang dalunggan ug iyang dayon gituthuan ang iyang mga kamot ug gihikap ang dila sa tawo. Kining ilang kadasig nga mamaayo ang amang ug bungol nga higala maoy atong pamalandungan karon.

Apan kadiyot lamang! Dili ba nga kita usab mahisama sa amang ug bungol bisan pa ug kabalo kita mosulti ug maminaw? Susama gayud kita sa amang ug bungol kon kita dili makabalo maminaw sa mga tawo nga nanginahanglan kanato. Susama gayud kita sa amang sa wala pagpakabana sa sitwasyon sa atong katilingban. Apan dili pa ulahi ang tanan! Aduna pay dakong kahigayunan nga manginlabot sa panghitabo sa atong katilingban.

Ang kadasig sa mga tawo nga nagdala sa bungol ug amang nga tawo ngadto kang Hesus nagpakita sa ilang pagsalig kang Hesus ug ang dako nilang paghigugma sa maong tawo. Sila mismo miduol nga maisugon ngadto sa Dios aron sila mahatagan sa ilang gikinahanglan. Mao usab unta kini ang atong buhaton, atong ipakita ang atong dakong pagsalig sa Dios aron kita dili mahadlok sa pagpakabana sa atong katilingban. Ang atong pagsalig sa Dios mao ang maghatag kanato ug kaisog nga manginlabot diha sa hustisya ug kalinaw. Ato usab nga ipakita ang atong paghigugma sa atong kauban nga mga magtotoo aron dili sila mahadlok nga moduol sa Dios ug makab-ot usab nila ang kaayuhan.

Karong adlawa, gihagit kita sa pagpaminaw sa panginahanglan sa katawhan tungod kay dili man kita mga bungol. Gihagit usab kita sa pagsulti sa tinuod ug mobarog nga lig-on kay dili man kita mga amang. Ayaw na pagpaka bungol! Paminaw sa mga nanginahanglan bisan kadtong wala nila gisulti. Adunay uban nga looy na gyud kaayo. Sa una palang nimong tan-aw, bisan wala pa sila mosulti mailhan na nimo nga sila nanginahanglan. Tabangi sila! Aron dili ka ingnon nga bungol bisan makadungog. Listen to what they are not saying!

MAKA TURN-OFF!

When I studied in college, I met a beautiful girl and make friends with her. I like this girl because she Is beautiful. One day, I decided to go to her house. When I entered the house I notice that the house is dirty, rugs are everywhere, used clothing are anywhere in the house and the kitchen is so dirty. Nakaingon ko sa akong kaugalingon: “maka turn-off!”

Most of the time, boys does not clean the house and that is true but boys like clean house. It is very relative if the girls clean the house because as our cultures speaks its women’s work. Kaya ang mga lalaki madaling ma turn-off pag ang babae ay hindi marunong maglinis.

Our gospel today, speaks of the Pharisees and the scribes who questioned Jesus about his disciples who eat without washing their hands. However, Jesus defended his disciples by explaining to them what defiles a person. "Hear me, all of you, and understand.

Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person;

but the things that come out from within are what defile.” Jesus is referring about their works, action and what they do to other people, and for Jesus, this is what makes people unclean.

The scribes and the Pharisees are very strict in observing the law and by strictly observing the law many people were deprived. That is why Jesus is trying to explain to them that what make people unclean are the injustices that they do to other people.

If we look at our society today, many people are acting like the scribes and the Pharisees. Magandang tingnan sa labas ngunit a loob ay marumi. Like this story that I heard:

 AMO: Inday! Nabutangan na ba nimo ug tubig ang suka nga atong baligya?

INDAY: OO, ma’am humana!

AMO: Ang toyo nabutangan na?

INDAY; Humana pod ma’am.

AMO: ali na diri magrosaryo nata!

Naku! Makakaturn-off ka nanay!

Mga kapatid pag tayo ay madaling maturn-off sa mga taong hindi mabuti sana ay linisin natin ang ating sarili para hindi naman sila maturn-off. God wants us to be always clean because he created us to be clean. Since from the very beginning of time, we are created by God as pure, clean and Holy. When we were at the womb of our mother God already form us in order to live in purity. However, when we grow old, we started to live in impurity and we start to defile ourselves.

"From within people, from their hearts,

come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder,

adultery, greed, malice, deceit,

Licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, folly.

All these evils come from within and they defile."

Today my dear friends, we are challenge by God to go back to what we are supposed to be when we were created, that is pure, holy and clean. Sana ito ay ating gagawin para naman hindi ma turn-off ang Dios sa atin at hindi niya tayo tatawaging hypocrite.

21ST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B

DON’T TURN YOUR BACK ON ME

Yesterday, the Parish pastoral Coordinating Council of Medalla Melagrosa Parish, malipayon, pangantucan, Bukidnon had their monthly meeting. The council talks about the incoming fiesta celebration of the parish. In the meeting, we have been discussing about our expenxes for the said fiesta celebration. This is so because the does not have any money to support for the said celebration especially on financial matters. Without the help of the other chapels the said celebration is impossible to achieve. Fortunately, the members of the said council responded positively to the needs of the parish. It is so good that nobody turn their back, for the good of the church.

GREETINGS!

My dear friends, our gospel for this Sunday is the last discourse of Jesus to the people. Because of this story, many turned their back on Jesus. Many leave Jesus because of his words. What are these words? As what I have said this is the last discourse of Jesus in the Gospel of John about the bread of Life. Many of the followers of Jesus leave him because they cannot believe that Jesus is the bread of life. In other words Jesus has been rejected by his own followers.

Turning your back to other person is a form of rejection. This action may hurt other people especially to those who are involved in the discussion. Rejection is a form of disagreeing the idea or personality of a certain person. For example, simple neglecting! If you don’t like the other person, you don’t want to see him or even talk to him and you will always turn your back on him. 

However on the part of Jesus, people doesn’t like about his thoughts. They don’t agree with the idea that Jesus is the bread of Life.  Jesus asks those who were left, especially to his disciples: “do you want to leave me too?” Today, Jesus will also ask us, “Do you want to leave me too?”

One way of leaving Jesus is through sins committing sins towards other people and towards God is a form of turning away from God. Why? Because Jesus hates sin and doesn’t want us to sin. He doesn’t like if we will hurt our fellow human beings.

Jesus in our Gospel today wants us to understand the teaching of our faith so that we can live, act and participate on it. If we don’t understands the church, we mumble also like his other disciple and at the end leave the church.  Hindi sana ito mangyayari sa atin. Hope that we will do our share on propagating the message to all, especially those who leave the church of God.

Today, Jesus is trying to tell us: Don’t turn your back on me! Help me! Help me save souls! Help me that other people will know who I am!

20th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B

LET OTHERS SEE JESUS IN YOU

Nakahinumdom ko sa akong amigo kaniadto samtang nagkaon siya ug mangga nga hinog siya miingon: “kaon ka?” “o mokaon ko”. “PAGTANOM” he said. The response is some kind of sarcastic but somehow it seems to be true. In order for me to eat more mangos I should plant a mango tree. When you plant something it does not happen overnight for you to yield a harvest. For example, planting rice needs a lot of time before you can obtain a harvest. You need to exert efforts in order to have a good harvest. Most of the time farmers are working very hard to have a good harvest. It needs sacrifices especially time, effort, money and many others before you can have a plentiful and a joyful harvest.

Today’s gospel is almost the same gospel reading from the previous Sundays that we had. Jesus Christ is talking about bread: ‘I am the living bread that comes down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever. I think this is last one that Jesus will be talking about bread from heaven. 

On the other Sundays, we were talking about the graces of God as abundant; Just eat all you can. Last Sunday, I was talking about bread- the real presence of God in the Eucharist.

 Our reflection today is the pick of our reflection about the bread of life. Today, Jesus said:”Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.” When I said that, Jesus is really present in the host that we receive every Sunday is really true. This communion will bring us to eternal life is also true but it does not happen suddenly. It is not a magical wand that will automatically bring us to heaven. It does not happen abruptly.  We need to do something about it. We need to work for it because as saint James said “faith without works is useless”. What I mean her is that every day or everyday Sunday we take communion, we go to the church; every day we pray but if it does agree with what we do, it means nothing. Jesus said if you eats my flesh and drinks my blood I will remain in you and you in me. This may mean that we also need to work for it. we need to imitate what Jesus' doings. Take what Jesus is trying to say to you. If he said be a good man, follow the holy gospel, share you blessing and help other people, we need to do it because this is what Jesus is doing. In others words, we are encourage to like Jesus. 

Kada adlaw ta mag-ampo, kada adlaw ta magsimba pero limbungan diay ta sa negosyo. You are always praying the rosary but you have a very bad attitude towards your workers. This kind of life is not what Jesus is trying to tell us today. He want to tell us to be like Him. Since we want to be with Jesus then we must also act like Jesus. Be like Jesus because he said that if we ate his body and drink his blood he will remain in us.

Everything I said today only means one thing. Let others see Jesus in you! Again, let others see Jesus in you!

19TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B

EUCHARIST: BREAD FROM HEAVEN

When I was still a child, every morning mother would always buy bread with coffee for early refreshments. When we woke up the bread and coffee is already set at the table. There are many kinds of bread, but my mother would always buy brown bread. We have also what we called loaf bread; this bread is usually eaten with butter inside and a glass of juice. We have also bread which is one of my favorite also during childhood,” bagong bayan”. There are many kinds of bread: pan de coco, mammon, torta, siopao, pan de leche, supas, but ang pinakasikat na bread in the Philippines is Pandesal. All of these are Pan! Pan! Pan! Pan! We ate this bread because it satisfies our stomach.

However, today my dear friends we will receive the bread from heaven. What is this bread from heaven? The Eucharistic celebration today makes this bread into a reality. During communion in the celebration of the mass, we will taste and eat this bread from heaven. This is Jesus Christ. The host that we receive in the Eucharistic celebration is Jesus Christ, the bread from heaven. How is this possible? It becomes possible during the consecration of the bread and wine in the mass.

 The council of Trent in the 16^th century believed that the whole Christ (Body and Blood and the whole of Him) is really and substantially present in the Eucharist. The Eucharist contains Jesus Christ in the fullness of his divinity and completeness of his humanity. The whole substance of bread and wine is replaced by Jesus Christ.

Many scientists in the past studied the” host” in the celebration of the Eucharist to satisfy their doubts. We cannot deny that there are many people today who do not believe about it. Lucky as I am, I met one of them during one of our retreats, in the person of Dr. Ricardo Castanon. He was an atheist for almost 20 years of his life. Out of curiosity he studied the belief of the Catholic Church that the bread (the host that we received in the mass) is really the body and blood of Christ. He spent more time in research using the knowledge that he has as a doctor to prove that it is not true. However, the result is astounding; the host in the Eucharistic celebration is really body and blood of a human person. The consecrated hosts remain fresh despite of age. Science cannot explain about it, since normal bread can only last for two weeks. It was also found out that the host is really a fresh flesh of human person from the left ventricle of a human heart. We know that the left ventricle is one of four chambers of the heart. It is located in the bottom left portion of the heart below the left atrium, separated by the mitral valve. The research also shows that the wine in the mass becomes human blood of type AB. It also remains fresh which science cannot explain it since when blood is extracted into the body can only last for 15 minutes. It is really true because the research also says that the DNA has no similarities until today.

If these researches prove that the bread that we ate during the Eucharistic celebration is really Jesus Christ, what shall we do about it? My dear friends, I admonish you to take the communion seriously. It is really Jesus that we received. Allow it to sink into the bottom of your soul.

 May this Holy Communion nourishes our soul and make us a holy people of God. Believe in Jesus Christ who is really present in the Eucharist. He is the bread from heaven and whoever ate this bread will live forever. Amen. 

18th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME B

ENERGY BOOSTER(Revised)

Most people are doing the best that they can, working late at night, doing something extra in order to raise foods to sustain their life. Food are energy boosters, they usually be eaten in order to have energy for the day. If one person does not take food for the whole day, his/her energy will be exhausted and as a result he will slowly deteriorate and die.

We have to take in food to obtain energy, and eat enough to survive. Not enough food for the body drains your energy and you feel tired. In order to remain healthy and strong, take enough amount of food daily. Foods are called energy boosters because it provides energy to the body.

If we eat food to sustain our physical well-being, we need also food from heaven to maintain our spiritual well-being.

My dear friends, in today’s gospel, Jesus presents himself as bread of life. However, let us not understand it literally, since we are not cannibals or “wak wak” nga mokaon ug tawo. We don’t eat human flesh. Let us explain it figuratively: Jesus is trying to figure out the importance of following HIM. “I am the bread of life, whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”  In other words, whoever follows my way will live forever or have the promise of everlasting life.

I happen to read the book of Fr. Rafael T. Cruz and I want to share some of his stories.

“During the presidency of Richard Nixon one the most powerful Americans was a man named Charles Colson. He was powerful, Why? Because as he bragged, “I hold office next to the very office of the president of the united States.” He was so rich and has everything. However, he made an admission. He has everything but there is something lacking. He doesn’t understand about it. Until one evening, he was invited to a dinner to one of his close friends. Pero ito pong kanyang kaibigan had recently a peak experience with the Lord. His friend told him, “I have everything, power , wealth and I can do everything I want but I felt hollowness inside me until I found Jesus Christ.” Mr. Colson was about to Cry. That simple invitation changed the life of Mr. Colson. Today, Mr. Colson travelled anywhere to proclaim Jesus Christ.”

The bread that we ate during Eucharistic celebration is Jesus Christ Himself, an energy booster to our soul. Therefore, let us not forget to go to the mass always especially Sundays and holidays. The presence of Jesus in this celebration is an energy booster that will strengthen our souls. It will always give us the right energy that will keep us moving towards our goal, that is heaven.

On other hand, Don’t you know that you can be an energy booster also to other people? If you see and know somebody who suffered lots of difficulties, especially problems and sometimes tend to give up, your helping hand is an energy booster to that person. Our help is an energy booster that will keep him/her going.

If you are full of energy because you feel that God is really present in you; then, share your energy to those who are weak. Share your energy to those suffering people around you. Be an energy booster. Only in God you will find happiness, and happy people are full of energy. Release it! Share your energy! You’ve got the power!  Be a Corpus Christi to them.

Be an energy booster.

17TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME B

EAT ALL YOU CAN

One day, when I was still in Davao City, I happen to ate at a restaurant with “eat all you can” banquet. When I enter the eatery, I followed what other customers are doing, since it was my first time. I realized that in this kind of banquet self service is being observed. You will be the one to get your food. You can get everything, viand, rice, desserts and drinks, as long as you can consume it. It was a very nice system since; you will really feel that you are at home.

My dear friends, the grace of God are like “eat you can” dinner. The grace of God is just around us just “eat all you can”. In our Gospel today Jesus feed 5000 men not including women and children meaning to say there are more than 5000 people. It does not only say like that since, there are 12 baskets left in the banquet. The remaining 12 baskets convey that there are lots of foods available. This may mean that the graces that we have received everyday of our life are really abundant.

In life, we received loads of graces. The basic example for this is our life, the air we breathe every day, the food we take daily, friends who care for us, our families, and our neighbors are God’s given graces. These graces are just like “eat all you can” banquet, unlimited and without any expense. Remember that these unlimited graces do not only feed our stomach but also to our soul.

Since, we have received these graces in our life without any expense; it is also fitting for us to give thanks to the giver. This is our only expression as a response to the giver of the gifts.

One way of giving thanks to the giver is to share these graces to other people. Share what you have received. Invite and let other people know that you have been enjoying the “eat all you can” graces of God.

But sometimes in our life, we feel that we have been forsaken. It seems that there are empty spaces that need to fill up. There are difficulties that need to settle. If you will feel this way just approach God and ask Him to “eat all you can” to his graces. I am pretty sure that he will always give what you need. Our gospel reminds us today that God provides everything we need. Let us be conscious about it. Let us be aware of the things we have received from God. God provides us everything and it is also fitting to give him in return.

Karon gihagit kita sa Ginoo: unsa man ang imong mahatag sa Dios isip balos sa iyang pagkamanggihatagon? Unsa man ang imong ikatampo alang sa kalambuan sa iyang katawhan?

Tungod niini ako kamong gihagit sa pag-ampo alang sa tanang kaparian aron magmalampuson ang among ipahigayon nga annual retreat.

Sa atong ebanghelyo karong adlawa atong nahibal an nga ang mga tinun-an gikan sa misyon nga gihatag kanila sa Dios ug mitaho sila kang Hesus sa mga accomplishments nga ilang nahimo. Human sila makabuhat niini, giingnan sila ni Hesus sa pag-adto sa deserto aron sa pagpahulay. Sila gipinahan ni Hesus sa pagpahulay siguro tungod sa kakapoy sa ilang panaw. Ang pagpahulay sa mga apostoles importante alang sa Ginoo tungod kay nasayod man siya nga aduna pay daghan nga trabaho nga nagpaabot kanila.

Ang pulong pagpahgulay sa ingles  “rest” from Latin rēstāre, from re- + stāre to stand. Re is a prefix, occurring originally in loanwords from Latin, used with the meaning “again” or “again and again” to indicate repetition. Rest meaning to say is to stand again and again. Mao kini ang gusto nga mahitabo ni Hesus ngadto sa iyang mga tinun-an. Kinahanglan gayud nga makapahulay sila aron sila makapadayon sa daghan pang mga misyon nga isangon kanila.

Daghan kaayo ug panahon sa atong kinabuhi nga daw kita gikapuyan na. gikapuyan kita diha sa atong pagtrabaho aron mabuhi ang pamilya. Usahay gikapuyan usab kita diha sa pag atiman sa tong tagsatagsa ka pamilya o gikapuyan ba kaha kita diha sa atong kahimtang.

Ang kakapoy makabalda sa atong pagpadayon sa sakto nga trabaho. Sama pananglitan kon ikaw walay tarong ug pahulay sa gabii unya daghan pa gayud ka ug trabaho pagka ugma, siguro gayud nga maapektuhan ang imong trabaho tungod kay wala naman gayud ikaw’y igong kusog tungod sa kakapoy. Usahay ang kakapoy makabungkag usab ug relasyon diha sa pamilya. Tungod sa kakapoy dili na hinoon maatiman ang pamilya. Mutugot ba kamo nga kini mahitabo diha kaninyo? Dili gayud!

Busa, ang giingon sa atong Gino sa atong ebanghelyo karon “pahulay sad oi!” buot niyang ipasabot, tan awa ug pamalandungi ang imong nabuhat sa tibuok adlaw o tibuok bulan. Nakaayo ba kini kanimo ug sa imong pamilya? Wala ka bay nabanggaan o nadaut nga relasyon diha sa imong pagpaningkamot? Pahulay aron ikaw makapadayon sa imong panaw. Mura ba ug sa motor pa, pa change oil pod! Aron ka makadagan ug layo layo.

Isa sa paagi sa pagpahulay mao ang akong gisugilon sa sinugdanan. Adunay uban gusto nga magretreat, adunay uban usab gusto magbakasyon sa mga mamingaw nga dapit. Kon unsa man atong buhaton, ang importante nga imong mabaliktanaw ang imong nabuhat ug aron ikaw makapadayon pa imong mga buhaton pa!

EUCHARIST THE ONLY PRECIOUS POSSESSION

Sa atong pagsalmot sa makaluwas nga grasya sa eukaristiya nakahimo kanato nga maka ambit sa kahinluan sa mga sala pinaagi sa pag ula ni Hesus sa iyang kaugalingong dugo diha eukaristiya.
