SOLEMNITY OF THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST C

EAT ALL YOU CAN

One day, when I was still in Davao City, I happened to ate at a restaurant with “eat all you can” meal. When I enter the eatery, I followed what other customers were doing, since it was my first time. I realized that in this kind of banquet self-service is being observed. You will be the one to get your food. You can get everything:  viand, rice, desserts and drinks, as long as you can consume it. It was a very nice system, since; you will really feel that you are at home.

Greetings!

My dear friends, the grace of God are like “eat you can” meals. The grace of God is just around us just “eat all you can”. In our Gospel today Jesus feed 5000 men not including women and children meaning to say there are more than 5000 people. It does not only say like that since, there are 12 baskets left in the banquet. The remaining 12 baskets convey that there is lots of food available. This may mean that the graces that we have received everyday of our life are really abundant.

In life, we received lots of graces. The basic example for this is our life, the air we breathe every day, the food we take daily, friends who care for us, our families, and our neighbours are God’s given graces. These graces are just like “eat all you can” meal, unlimited and without any expense. Remember that these unlimited graces do not only feed our stomach but also to our soul.

Since, we have received these graces in our life without any expense; it is also fitting for us to give thanks to the giver. This is our only expression as a response to the giver of the gifts.
One way of giving thanks to the giver is to share these graces to other people. Share what you have received. Invite and let other people know that you have been enjoying the “eat all you can” graces of God.

But sometimes in our life, we feel that we have been forsaken. It seems that there are empty spaces that need to fill up. There are difficulties that need to settle. If you will feel this way just approach God and ask Him to take your meal “eat all you can” meaning to asks his graces. I am pretty sure that he will always give what you need. Our gospel reminds us today that God will always provide everything we need. Let us be conscious about it. Let us be aware of the things we have received from God. God provides us everything and it is also fitting to give him in return.

As we celebrate the feast of the body and blood of Christ, we are all reminded to share our bread and wine to other people.

Friendly reminder: graces are just everywhere, just “eat all you can”.

PENTECOST SUNDAY C

YOU AND I ARE ONE

A car is a composition of different parts. We have the engine, the under chassis, the body, the wheels and many others. It can only be called as “car” if the different parts will work together as one. It is also the same, in a human body- we have the head which is compose also of the different parts, the body and the feet. It can only be called as human (as in complete form of a human being) if the whole parts are put together.

Greetings!

My dear friends, today we celebrate the feast of the Pentecost. A feast commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ as described in the Acts of the Apostles 2:1–11. For this reason, Pentecost is sometimes described as the "Birthday of the Church".

In the Second Reading, St. Paul speaks of the effect of the Spirit on the Christian community which reflects unity and diversity. “We are like a body. Each body has many members, each with its own particular function, yet they all are ordered to one purpose – the good functioning of the body as a whole.” This reminds us that we are all one though obtain different functions in this world and in the church. Therefore, we are called to be one in faith in Christ with different roles and functions in the church.

It is also the same in our church, there are hundreds of people who are part of the ministries of our parish. Some are catechists, faithful alagad, lectors, some are good in music, some work with our young people, some are servers, or you may consider yourself as just a mere church goers but without you, we are nothing in here. All make up the heart of the parish because we are all united by the Holy Spirit.

Now, let us also apply this to our daily chores. In the family for example, although we have different personality in the family, hope that you will be working together with the same purpose.

Today, we are challenge to be part of this one body of Christ by working on our roles as distinct from others. However, let us always remember, that we are always one in Christ. Different functions but we are one in our goal.

YOU AND I ARE INDEED ONE!

FEAST OF THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD C

GO BACK HOME

Adunay panultihon nga nagkanayon: “there is no other place like home”. Ilabi na kon didto gyod natawo unya didto pa gyod nagdako, mangita gyod kanunay sa ilang home, tungod kay there’s no other place like home.

Apan sa wala pa siya mobalik iya kitang gipahimangnuan to proclaim the good news to all the earth. The good news is no other than the real home of all who followed him. Let us tell the world the good news of our real home in heaven. Let us convince them to go back home.
Kon aduna ikaw’y mga higala nga sa daw wala nay simbasimba, tell them go back home.

Mao kini ang atong bation tungod kay there is no other place like home man. Busa kitang ania pa sa kalibutan, let us spread the good news to other people to go back home.

Please go back home.
